THE TRUE FILM is an interactive VR experience that explores the lives of film philosopher Siegfried Kracauer and his wife Elisabeth. Based on their archival legacy, the project offers a vivid look at the couple during the Cold War. Their friendships and intellectual work reveal how they balanced a passionate search for truth with the challenges of gaining recognition in a time of political tension and constant surveillance. Together with the Kracauers’ restless souls the audience collects quotes in the archive and travels into the past to consider which memories are important for the future.
